Harrison’s Power Treats – 1lb (454 grams) Bag – Organic Treats for Parrots
A tasty treat for all companion birds, Harrisons certified organic Power Treats can be served dry, moistened, cold, warmed, whole or crushed.
They are a great conversion food for stubborn birds or birds that need extra energy following an illness.
Power Treats are ideal to be used as a supplement for birds that require extra energy.
The added palm fruit oil can boost the immune system, help improve the quality of the skin and feathers, and has been found to reduce the incidence of feather picking and cataract growth.
The red palm fruit oil used in Harrison Power Treats comes from sustainable Brazilian Palm Farms and not from south-east Asia where agriculture is threatening regional wildlife.
Recommended Uses
- Can be used as the only food source to aid in weaning, changing a bird’s diet from seeds to Harrison’s Bird Foods, or as a healthy treat for birds already fed Harrison’s Bird Foods – particularly suitable for those needing extra energy following an illness, feeding of young, or exercise.
- Can be beneficial to birds with dry flaky skin (beak, nails), balding of the feet, lack of sheen and proper colour to feathers.
- For birds benefiting from a high antioxidant content (vitamin E and coenzyme Q10).
- For birds benefiting from a high carotenoid content (precursors to vitamin A).
Feeding Instructions
- Feed 1 piece Power Treats per 3 pieces of Coarse Ground Formula
- Power Treats may make up to 30% of your birds daily diet
Suggested Daily Amounts
- Small birds from ⅛ up to 1½ pieces per day
- Medium birds up to 3 pieces per day
- Large birds up to 9 pieces per day
Feeding of additional items
- Harrison’s products should make up 75-80% by volume of your bird’s diet.
- It is recommended that 20-25% by volume of the overall diet should be good quality, ideally organic, vegetables and fruits. Dark yellow meaty, or dark green leafy, items such as sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, winter squash, broccoli, parsley, spinach, mango or papaya are the most beneficial.
- It is not recommended to supplement with vitamins or other bird or animal supplementary products.
For birds with suspected iron-storage disease: Avoid citrus fruits, tomatoes, kiwi, strawberries and other foods containing vitamin C. Avoid grapes, currants, raisins, liver, red meat, egg yolk or dark green vegetables such as spinach, which may contain high levels of iron.
Storage
- Once opened, use the bag within 6 weeks. Due to the organic ingredients the food contains no artificial preservatives.
- Keep food in its original bag – Do not repackage into plastic bags or containers.
- Squeeze all air out of the bag before closing and ‘zip’ it shut at the top – if the ‘zip’ becomes damaged, fold the top open and close with a clip or peg.
- Refrigeration after opening may help maintain freshness.
