Fitting & Best Practice

Arcadia advises fitting PureSun Midi centrally over smaller cages with the acrylic arm fully extended. A perch should then be placed directly under the fitting so that, when the bird is sitting upright in the basking zone, the head is around 8–12″ / 20–30cm from the lamp.

This creates the upper basking zone while still allowing the bird to move lower or sideways into a gentler gradient of shade for natural self-regulation.

Photo Period & Lamp Life

Arcadia recommends using bird lamps with a maximum 12-hour daily photo period. As with other UV-emitting lamps, output decreases with age, so the lamp should normally be replaced after around 1 year to maintain dependable UV performance.
