Fitting & Best Practice

Arcadia advises fitting PureSun Mini centrally over smaller cages with the acrylic arm fully extended. A perch should then be placed directly beneath the fitting so that, when the bird is sitting upright within the basking zone, the head is around 8–12″ / 20–30cm from the lamp.

This allows the bird to self-regulate by moving between brighter exposure and lower-light shaded areas within the cage. For wider cages, the fitting can also be mounted over the left or right side to create a horizontal gradient into shade.

Photo Period & Lamp Life

Arcadia states that a typical 12 hours on / 12 hours off daily cycle is ideal for most birds, helping to establish a natural day and night rhythm. Birds should also have access to total darkness at night.
