Who Is This Food For?
Suitable for healthy adult medium to large birds including:
- Pionus parrots
- Amazons
- African greys
- Large cockatoos
- Large macaws
- Other similar-sized medium to large parrots
Adult Lifetime formulas are generally introduced after a bird has completed at least 6 months on an appropriate Harrison’s High Potency formula. Birds that are breeding, moulting, recovering, still growing or have particular nutritional requirements may need to remain on High Potency for longer.
Some species and individual birds may also benefit from remaining on a High Potency diet year-round. An avian veterinarian can advise on the most suitable feeding programme for your bird.
How To Feed
- Offer fresh Harrison’s food daily and avoid continually topping up older food
- Feed as distinct meals where possible to help monitor intake and reduce waste
- Birds may eat freely, with the suggested quantities below used as a general guide
Suggested daily amounts:
- Pionus: approximately 10–15g (1–1½ tablespoons)
- Amazons: approximately 15–30g (1½–3 tablespoons)
- Eclectus: approximately 15–30g (1½–3 tablespoons)
- African grey: approximately 15–30g (1½–3 tablespoons)
- Large cockatoos: approximately 15–50g (1½–5 tablespoons)
- Large macaws: approximately 20–60g (2–6 tablespoons)
Individual requirements can vary according to species, size, activity and body condition, so monitor your bird and adjust feeding as required.
Fresh Foods
For optimal nutrition, Harrison’s recommend that:
- 75–80% of the diet is Harrison’s Bird Foods
- 20–25% is good-quality vegetables and fruits
Helpful choices include sweet potato, carrot, pumpkin, winter squash, broccoli, parsley, spinach, mango and papaya.
Additional vitamin or mineral supplements are not normally recommended unless advised by an avian veterinarian.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which birds is Harrison’s Adult Lifetime Coarse for?

Is Adult Lifetime Coarse a complete bird food?
Yes. Harrison’s Adult Lifetime Coarse is a complete balanced maintenance food designed to provide the main nutritional foundation for healthy adult birds that are not breeding or moulting.
Does my bird need to be on High Potency first?
In most cases, Harrison’s recommend feeding an appropriate High Potency formula for at least 6 months before moving onto an Adult Lifetime maintenance diet. Birds that are breeding, moulting, growing, recovering or have increased nutritional requirements may need to remain on High Potency for longer.

Do I need to feed anything else with this food?
