Harrison’s High Potency Mash 454g is a complete, certified organic bird food with a soft, coarse-mash texture rather than conventional pellets or nuggets.

Minimally processed and not pelletised or extruded, High Potency Mash is particularly useful for canaries, finches and other small birds that prefer a softer texture, as well as birds that find conventional pellets difficult to eat.

It provides the enhanced nutritional profile of Harrison’s High Potency range in a versatile format that can be fed dry, moistened or incorporated into suitable fresh foods.

Why Choose High Potency Mash?

Harrison’s High Potency diets are designed for periods when a bird may have increased nutritional requirements. They are commonly used when converting birds from seed or mixed diets, and during breeding, moulting, weaning and other periods of increased demand.

The Mash version provides this nutrition in a soft, coarse-powder format, making it a useful alternative for birds that do not readily accept pellets or nuggets.

Key Benefits

  • Complete certified organic bird food
  • Minimally processed mash rather than an extruded or pelletised food
  • Soft, coarse texture suitable for smaller birds
  • Useful when converting birds from seed or mixed diets
  • Suitable during breeding, moulting and weaning
  • Can be useful for birds that struggle with conventional pellets
  • Can be fed dry or prepared in several different ways
  • 454g resealable bag

Who Is High Potency Mash For?

Harrison’s particularly recommends High Potency Mash for smaller species including canaries, finches, budgies, cockatiels, lovebirds, doves, pigeons, conures and parrotlets.

It can also be useful for larger birds that have difficulty eating conventional nuggets or pellets because of age, injury, illness or beak-related difficulties.

Birds converting to Harrison’s are generally started on a High Potency formula for at least six months before moving to an appropriate Adult Lifetime formula, unless continued High Potency feeding has been recommended.

How to Feed Harrison’s High Potency Mash

High Potency Mash is particularly versatile and can be:

  • Fed dry directly from the feeding bowl
  • Mixed with water to produce a softer consistency
  • Mixed with organic fruit juice and formed into small dough-like portions
  • Added to chopped vegetables to increase the proportion of formulated food
  • Used in suitable Harrison’s bird-bread recipes

Provide fresh food each day rather than continually topping up old food. Distinct meals can also help reduce unnecessary waste.

Suggested Daily Feeding Amounts

Example Species Suggested Daily Amount
Canary / Finch Approx. 1–1⅓g (1 tsp)
Budgie / Parrotlet Approx. 1½–3g (1–2 tsp)
Cockatiel / Lovebird Approx. 2–5g (1½–3 tsp)
Dove / Pigeon Approx. 5–15g (½–1½ tbsp)

These quantities are feeding guidelines rather than strict limits. Individual requirements vary according to species, body condition and activity level.

Fresh Foods & Feeding Balance

Harrison’s recommends that its formulated foods make up approximately 75–80% of the daily diet, with suitable fresh vegetables and fruits making up most of the remainder.

Dark green leafy vegetables and dark yellow or orange foods such as broccoli, parsley, spinach, carrot, pumpkin, squash, mango and papaya are amongst the fresh foods suggested by Harrison’s.

Additional vitamin supplementation should not normally be added alongside Harrison’s unless specifically advised by an avian veterinarian.
