Harrison’s High Potency Fine is a certified organic, high-nutrition diet developed for small to medium companion birds. Its fine pellet size is particularly well suited to cockatiels, lovebirds, budgies, quakers, conures and other similar-sized birds.

High Potency formulas are designed for birds with increased nutritional requirements, including birds being converted from seed or another diet, weaning birds, breeding birds and birds that are moulting or particularly active. Harrison’s recommend that birds converting onto their foods are initially fed a High Potency formula for at least 6 months before moving onto an appropriate Adult Lifetime maintenance diet.

  • Fine pellet size suited to cockatiels, lovebirds, budgies, quakers and conures
  • Ideal as the starting diet when converting birds from seed or another food

Who Is This Food For?

Suitable for small to medium companion birds including:

  • Budgies (parakeets)
  • Cockatiels
  • Lovebirds
  • Quaker parrots
  • Conures
  • Lories
  • Doves and pigeons
  • Other similar-sized small to medium birds

The Fine pellet size is larger than Harrison’s Superfine and is generally preferred by small to medium birds. Individual preference can vary, particularly with birds being introduced to a formulated diet for the first time.

When Is High Potency Recommended?

Harrison’s High Potency formulas provide increased nutritional support during periods when a bird has greater dietary requirements.

  • Diet conversion: Birds changing from seed or another diet should generally remain on a High Potency formula for at least 6 months before moving onto an appropriate Adult Lifetime formula.
  • Weaning: Harrison’s recommend feeding High Potency for at least 6–9 months for weaning birds.
  • Breeding: High Potency is recommended for breeding birds.
  • Moulting and increased demand: Suitable during moulting and for particularly active birds or other periods where increased nutritional support is appropriate.

Birds with a medical condition or specific nutritional requirement should be fed according to the advice of an avian veterinarian.

How To Feed

  • Offer fresh Harrison’s food daily and avoid continually topping up older food
  • Feed as distinct meals where possible to help monitor intake and reduce waste
  • Birds may eat freely, with the suggested quantities below used as a general guide

Suggested daily amounts:

  • Budgie: approximately 1½–3g (1–2 teaspoons)
  • Cockatiel / Lovebird: approximately 2–5g (1½–3 teaspoons)
  • Quaker: approximately 3–7g (2–4 teaspoons)
  • Lory / Conure: approximately 5–9g (3–5 teaspoons)
  • Dove / Pigeon: approximately 5–15g (½–1½ tablespoons)

Individual requirements can vary according to species, size, activity and body condition, so monitor your bird and adjust feeding as required.

Fresh Foods

For optimal nutrition, Harrison’s recommend that:

  • 75–80% of the diet is Harrison’s Bird Foods
  • 20–25% is good-quality vegetables and fruits

Helpful choices include sweet potato, carrot, pumpkin, winter squash, broccoli, parsley, spinach, mango and papaya.

Additional vitamin or mineral supplements are not normally recommended unless advised by an avian veterinarian.
